Gardening Project
Gardeners needed!
Garden plots are available for those wanting to grow their own herbs and vegetables.
Garden owners are donating the use of their land to families that would like to grow their own fresh food. The gardens are located in town, as well as in rural areas. Use of the garden for the growing season is free, but the produce from the garden should be shared by both gardener and garden owner.
Gardening is a great way to exercise, and a wonderful opportunity to teach children about our food and the importance of a healthy environment.
Gardeners can be individuals growing food for their family. Volunteer groups are also welcome to adopt a garden so that the produce can be shared with families in need.
To register your garden to be actively planted and share the produce or to register as a gardener willing to share your produce with the garden owner, contact Bev Northeast, of the Salvation Army in Uxbridge, 905-852-0090 or drop your name and contact information through the slot in the Salvation Army office door
(35 Toronto Street North, Uxbridge).
Let’s give all families healthy food!
